OPINION — Scottsdale’s high quality of life starts with its residents feeling safe in their neighborhoods and around their community. It’s the foundation of everything else we value; strong neighborhoods, thriving tourism and a growing economy.
The officers who provide that safety have made their choice. Scottsdale Police trust Councilman Barry Graham and former State Senator Michelle Ugenti-Rita. They're the only candidates in this election with that endorsement.
That endorsement reflects a record. Barry and Michelle understand how critical public safety is to our success and our quality of life. They have a record of leadership, of fully funding public safety, and of standing with the men and women in blue. Competitive pay, increased staffing, sound pension investments and stand-alone police funding are how a city keeps experienced officers and recruits the next generation.
I have seen who shows up for public safety when the vote is called, not only when the camera is on. On Nov. 3, voters will fill two seats. I support Barry Graham and Michelle Ugenti-Rita, the candidates who have earned the trust of the officers who keep us safe.
