Will the real Republicans please step forward?

Morristown reader: It’s Democrats who will save America

Posted

OPINION — I have a question for Paul Cahill, who wondered in a recent letter to the editor where America’s real Democrats are.

I admired the courage of Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain. I appreciated the honesty of Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney. So, I’ll ask: Will the real Republicans please step forward?

Republicans should be appalled at the idea of Trump starting a government-run television network, banning what he believes is unfavorable journalism, acquiring stakes in private companies, prosecuting political enemies and claiming only elections Republicans lose are unfair.

My favorite is the deficit hawks that rail on Democrats — who actually decrease the deficit — yet are crickets when Trump increased it by 33% his first term and is on pace to break that after inheriting a strong economy from two different presidents.

I agree with Paul that it’s time to save America! Time to vote for Democrats to do just that.
