OPINION — Once again APS and EPCOR are asking for significant rates increases. Once again people rightfully are upset about how much these rate increases are. Now here is the irony of all this.
The elected representatives that sit on the board of APS and EPCOR are all Republicans. Year after year people complain about these rate increases and then go back and put the same people who approved these increases back in office.
This reminds me of the old saying that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result.
Once again people voting against their own interests, to satisfy a political opinion.
Another question I have is since many Sun City residents do not pay school taxes, why do we keep electing Republicans to the State House who gave away a billion dollars in education vouchers with no receipt or proof of how the money was spent? Meanwhile, Arizona ranks 45th in school funding with our students ranked 40th in the nation.
What? You want poorly educated kids to graduate in Arizona and you don’t care how poorly these students rank? Well, I can tell you businesses wanting to come to Arizona care about an educated work force.
Just another conundrum that us Arizona citizens must deal with because people don’t bother to take the time to research who they are voting for and why.
