OPINION — As the mother and grandmother of twin boys who have attended Scottsdale Unified School District schools since first grade, we have seen the difference an SUSD education can make, and we encourage a “yes” vote on the SUSD bond.
Our boys excel in academics and sports thanks to dedicated teachers and strong leadership. Just as importantly, SUSD has created a close-knit support circle that helps them – and us – feel connected and ready to succeed.
Now it's time to invest in those who follow. This bond builds more than buildings; it builds an extended family for all those who walk their halls.
A yes vote helps keep schools safe, modernize classrooms and address aging facilities before small problems become costly emergencies. These are essential, not extravagant, projects. Many buildings and systems are decades old, including Saguaro High School, where the boys are freshmen. Go Sabercats!
This investment benefits every Scottsdale resident. Strong neighborhood schools help protect property values and keep Scottsdale an attractive place to live — all for about $3 per week for the average homeowner. We know what Scottsdale schools can accomplish when students have the resources they deserve. Join us in voting yes on the SUSD bond.
