As Election Day Approaches

To allow candidates the right to respond to criticisms about their candidacy before Election Day, the last day Independent Newsmedia will publish new election-related letters in our weekly print editions is Oct. 21, and the last day they will publish online is Oct. 27. Candidates may submit a 150-word reply addressing criticisms only and should email them to AzOpinions@iniusa.org along with their name, address, contact number and the headline of the letter they’re addressing.

OPINION — The cancer of our city council must be cut out. It spread throughout, from Barry Graham to Kathy Littlefield, and is turning it from a non-partisan position into one that clearly uses Trump tactics to undermine anything that feels progressive, came from a person who aligns left and helps Scottsdale. If he didn’t touch it, it needs to go, whether that be diversification and protection of water or wasting millions of our taxpayer money to stop a roundabout.

To have someone use his power to silence public comment and align himself with the wealthy and super-rich developers is a mistake we cannot make. Solange won big because she listens to all and puts Scottsdale first.

A vote for Graham and (this is very strange but telling) his running mate Michelle Ugenti-Rita will put power to those that don’t care about home values, water or anything that protects our future. Only Raul Zubia is a safe bet to fight for the city we love. The Republican party is infected by a corrupt cancer. Vote for Zubia.

An R no longer protects our schools, water, state and country.
