Trump the only threat to mail-in voting

Sun City West reader responds to Question of the Week

OPINION — When I became eligible to vote by mail, I did it. Voting by mail originally was restricted to active-duty military personnel, the disabled and elderly, election workers and voters who were temporarily out of town.

When voting got complicated and vote counting got faster, it was made available to all registered voters. Looking back over 20 years, I cannot recall having one problem voting by mail. My thoughts on the subject:

What is the problem with mail-in voting? City political machines. The nice, politically appointed government-employed election worker offers to come to your house and help you fill out your ballot and mail it for you. To keep their jobs, they help people vote. Nothing to do with the U.S. Postal Service.

I remember talking to Trump’s people about corruption and election fraud before the 2016 and 2020 elections, and they always said they working on it.

In my opinion, Trump’s anti-post office and Department of Government Efficiency program is revenge. If you look at the problem this way, it all makes sense. A friend from Illinois founded Open the Books, an organization for national political transparency. He sent me an email describing how, during COVID-19, Trump's White House offered him $300,000 in COVID federal relief money. He saw Trump and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi competing to use federal COVID-relief tax dollars to bribe America to win the 2020 election.

Trump lost the bribe race and Biden won. Hell knows no fury like Trump scorned!
