Thanks to Hamadeh for One Big Beautiful Bill support

Sun City West reader approves of congressman’s performance

OPINION — I’ve been hearing a lot of negative comments about President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill. Thank God for it.

I want to share that my husband and I paid over $4,000 in federal taxes in 2024, before the bill was passed. The opposite was true for 2025. We received a refund for the first time in three years. Now we pay nothing.

And it’s not just us. According to the Government Accountability Office, the average tax refund went up $333, an 11% increase. The new senior deduction is giving real relief, so most retirees no longer pay federal tax on Social Security.

We should always hold our representatives accountable, but we should also give credit when it’s due.

My congressman, Abe Hamadeh, didn’t just vote for this bill, he fought for the senior tax relief that made this possible. He represents a district full of retirees like us in the West Valley and kept his promise to put Arizona seniors first.

I’m grateful he stood up for us.

Rep. Abe Hamadeh represents Congressional District 8, which includes parts of Glendale, Peoria, north Phoenix, Sun City, Sun City West and Surprise. Please submit comments at yourvalley.net/letters or email them to AzOpinions@iniusa.org. We are committed to publishing a wide variety of reader opinions, as long as they meet our Civility Guidelines.
