OPINION — I am frustrated and question why the responsible parties of the political signs put up prior to elections don’t remove the signs immediately after the voting ends.
This is a trashy eyesore, in my opinion. Over time the signs break or are torn by the heavy winds and sun rot. Not to mention they often block views at the street corners, which impedes our safety.
I wonder if the Sun City West community could adopt a bylaw prohibiting political signs in our community? People could still be allowed to distribute flyers and hold signs at the polling places, but that’s it.
If this is not a feasible option or possibility for our Recreation Centers of Sun City West board, could they impose a fine to the political candidates whose signs are not swiftly removed?
It has been three weeks since the last election closed and here we are … reddened with old, tattered visibility impediments and valueless distractions.
Please, can the political parties and their worker bees be more respectful and responsible in swiftly removing their advertisements when the elections are over? It is not our responsibility.
