Sun City Meal on Wheels grateful for clients, supporters

Posted

OPINION — As we move into fall, and the season of sharing, I want to thank our clients and our supporters for helping us through donations as we strive to serve our community with nutritious, affordable meals.

A few years ago, Sun City Meals on Wheels became a Qualified Charitable Organization.   At the same time, we lowered the cost of our meals from $10.50 a day to $8.

Low-income clients receive their meals for $4. Partnering with Lifestream, we subsidized the cost of all meals so we could keep the price affordable for all. We plan to continue to do this in the coming year with the hope that charitable donations will continue to offset the cost of meals.

As a Qualified Charitable Organization, individuals who file 2026 State of Arizona taxes may take a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for donations to us. Married filers can donate up to $1,009 and single taxpayers $506.

The donations we receive have permitted us to continue to provide healthy and tasty meals to our Sun City and Youngtown community.  We are firmly committed to the health and welfare of our clients.

It is the American way to take care of our own, and we thank all who have supported us to continue our mission.
