OPINION — I have written before so here I am again, same song, second verse. I am requesting that for the sake of safety and enjoyment, the Recreation Centers of Sun City please give consideration to dividing Duffeeland Dog Park into two separate areas.
Both gates are already in place, the plat of ground is large enough to divide and connect the already constructed block walls on the north and south with some type of less expensive wire fencing.
This task wouldn’t take an engineering degree to lay out the plans, like the performing arts center, just a reputable fencing company!
The divide wouldn’t have to be in the middle. Give the large dogs a larger linear space to run. The park is increasingly being overrun (pardon the pun) by the large, rambunctious dogs.
I have nothing against large dogs, but some of us, as we age, cannot contend with or afford the cost of a big dog. They need space, too, and us small-dog owners are willing to share but please let us share it within a space that our small dogs feel safe from being run over and we feel safe from being knocked down.
We would like to have as much enjoyment that those with large dogs have because they can let their dogs romp all over, catching balls that have been hurled through the air with ball launchers (of which myself and others have been hit) and lastly not having a fear of one or more large dogs, in their excitement, hitting us behind the knees and causing us to buckle forward to the ground. This has also happened in the past.
I am limited to the number of words, but I could go on and on with justification. Until we are heard, I will be back.
