Scottsdale unified bond is a need, not a want

Posted

OPINION — I'm voting yes on the Scottsdale Unified School District bond, and I hope you'll join me.

Through my work on SUSD's Spark Committee, I've seen how much our district is planning for the future — new programs, stronger partnerships, a real vision for Scottsdale schools. But none of that works if the buildings fall behind. Many high schools haven't seen major capital investment since 2008. Nearly 20 years of wear doesn't go away — it just gets pricier to fix.

A yes means:

  • Safe, secure schools for every student
  • Facilities that support one of Arizona's highest-performing districts.
  • Renovating aging infrastructure now, before repairs cost more later.
  • Protecting Scottsdale's investment in its neighborhood schools.
  • Modern classrooms and technology for the world students are entering.

This isn't a want – it's a need. Deferring it doesn't erase the cost; it just moves the bill to next year, with interest. For about $3 a week per household, we can keep Scottsdale schools safe, competitive and worthy of this community – while protecting the property values strong schools bring.

Our kids, our neighborhoods, our property values are worth $3 a week. Vote yes.
