Scooter traffic at parks in Fountain Hills

Posted

OPINION — Recently there has been a dramatic increase in scooters using the sidewalk of Fountain Park. A few are even motorized.

The other morning, a scooter sped by just seconds after our dog had been on that side of the sidewal. It was concerning that the scooters may whizz by and become entangled in an extended dog leash that they did not notice until it’s too late. This could result in harming themselves as well as the dog walker and our four-legged family members.

I was under the impression bikes, skateboards or scooters were not allowed to be used on the Fountain Park sidewalks. This is a safety issue and it seems to be most prevalent during the early weekend mornings. I hope the police drive by to patrol and urge all pedestrians to use caution.
