Restore tranquility in Fountain Hills politics

OPINION — Do you remember the “Red Scare” in the 1950s and the damage it caused to our country? Reclaim Our Town (ROT) has created a “Blue Scare” that is damaging our town.

It appears they are afraid of open-minded people and, as in the 1950s, they twist the facts to try to scare you.

ROT creates ugly signs with ugly messages. Our Town Hall has been roiling and uncivil since the creation of this Political Action Committee. The town’s reputation has suffered. The misinformation, the juvenile personal attacks and the partisan performative politics must stop if this town is to survive.

It is surprising that in the midst of this turmoil, a few well-meaning and qualified candidates have stepped up to try to restore functionality to the town council. By all accounts, they would like to return to the boring business of tackling town matters, such as roads, permits and infrastructure, and not doing things like making English our official language, removing DEI from all documents and removing the regulations on political signs.

Send a message to ROT that the people in Fountain Hills want to restore tranquility and the friendly small-town atmosphere that we used to be known for.
