OPINION — My response to Will Resist’s letter, Where is conservative outrage over high prices?:
• Inflation is a current problem, but less so than during the Biden years when inflation reached 9% annually and prices increased around 20% during that four-year period. Biden inflation was caused primarily by supply restraint, in an attempt to get rid of oil. This will never happen as oil is used in 6,000-plus products, from cosmetics to medicines in addition to fuel. It is one of the most versatile raw materials ever discovered.
• Armed conflict with Iran has deep roots extending to the 1979 Islamic Revolution. For nearly five decades, the clerical regime in Tehran and its proxies have committed a range of attacks against Americans and pose a continuing threat to U.S. national security. Iran is a world sponsor of terrorism and if Iran gets a nuclear weapon, they will use it against Israel and the United States, perhaps igniting a world-wide nuclear holocaust, in my opinion. This regime and its jihad against the civilized world must be permanently extinguished.
• U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents operate within the laws of the United States that have been enacted by the legislative branch. ICE agents do not need a judicial warrant to detain individuals for civil immigration violations, but they must have probable cause.
• The U.S. has implemented a series of economic and trade sanctions against Russia. These measures are primarily enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and are designed to address national-security threats and foreign-policy objectives. These sanctions include economic restrictions, trade limitations and freezing certain assets of individuals and entities associated with the Russian government.
Will Resist should check facts before writing opinions with such a large number of egregious factual errors.
