Queen Creek e-bike ordinance pleases bicyclist

OPINION — I am pleased to hear Queen Creek is doing something about e-bike speeds.

I ride a regular bike on the Queen Creek wash trail. I’ve been passed by e-bikes, almost like motor bikes (and the trail rules are no motorized vehicles).

Many e-bikes are like motorcycles. I have been surprised by them. Quiet and fast.

If e-bikes are allowed on the paths that to this point prohibited motorized vehicles, then I think you either don’t allow e-bikes on those trails, or you change your signage. And the speed limits will need oversight.

In our neighborhood, I have fear about kids on their fast e-bikes and traffic. As a driver, I have to become even more aware, so safety exists for all parties.
