My recommendations for Fountain Hills council

Posted

OPINION — For those who may not have noticed, it’s time to vote in the primaries. The bombardment of signs is a custom that shows up each election cycle but does little to inform us. Many of us defer our decisions to a neighbor or friend, or skip the exercise altogether. I hope to be that knowledgeable voice that helps you choose in Fountain Hills.

Mayor Gerry Friedel has earned my vote (again) not because I like him, but because I respect him. Gerry has accomplished what he promised. All while navigating unpleasant and disrespectful behaviors from some neighbors, and some fellow council members. He truly loves our town and staff and has made tremendous strides to improve our roads, promote local business and activities and maintain safety all on our shoestring budget.

Dan Kovacevic has a proven record of decision making while serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission. This is the guy we have needed for many years to organize our mishmash of business and residential development and squeeze every dollar from each project to the benefit of our beautiful town. He is direct, skilled and we will be lucky to have him representing us on the council.

Matt Corrigan brings experience, kindness and a thoughtfulness that I believe will be the glue. Matt listens and will find compromise on contentious issues. Matt and Dan have worked well together on P&Z and will be great assets to our council.

Lastly is Ben Larrabee. He is the young family that so often Fountain Hills claims to want to attract. He is the fresh perspective we can benefit from. He has experience gathering data and using it to accomplish desired outcomes.

These gentleman will bring civility, experience and success to our town and I hope you will join me in supporting them July21.
