Mountain View will have something for everyone in Sun City

OPINION — The renovation of Mountain View Recreation Center has been approved, and groundbreaking is anticipated in December.

Please note that the existing building officially opened in 1967, making it 59 years old. We have residents in the community who are younger than that. It will be for the community, not just the Sun City Players Community Theater.

The Recreation Centers of Sun City Board of Directors will schedule the new building for clubs that want to use it. Its modern design and updated technology should also attract other groups that prefer a theater setting over an auditorium. In addition, outside organizations could use the venue.

Started in 1961, the Sun City Players Community Theater has maintained its status as one of the most enduring and active clubs for 65 years.

The last play, “Once Upon a Mattress,” brought in over 3,900 patrons. They must be doing something right, and they are all volunteers.

We are a large community, and there is something available for everyone’s interest.
