Misinformation being spread about ICE detention center in Surprise

Posted

OPINION — Hey, how about all the media tell the truth on the proposed ICE detention center?

No. 1. It is barely in Surprise, being located in a industrial park at Sweetwater and Dysart, which is the farthest southeast location of Surprise.

2: You have to pass a large chemical warehouse by the name of Rinchem to get to it. Gee, what could go wrong there?

3. Sweetwater is a dead-end street, so unless you have business at one of the warehouses at this location you would not even travel down this street.

4. Many of the people who are protesting this facility don’t even live in Surprise, and the ones who do are misinformed.

5. This in no way should affect property values in Surprise. Most detainees spend about 14 days in a detention center before they are sent home.  You know most police departments have holding cells in them, so should we get rid of them as well?

Relax, people. The sky is not falling.
