Making Arizona a permanently red state

Posted

OPINION — We are at a crossroads. Do you want to go the way of California and Colorado, former red states that are now permanently blue? Or do you want to go the way of Florida, a once-purple state that is now solidly red? This election will decide which path Arizona takes.

My name is James Rogers, and I am running for the Arizona House in LD10 because I have the skills, experience, and backbone to help make Arizona permanently red. I am a sixth-generation Arizonan, a father of four, and a constitutional attorney with degrees from Harvard Law School and Cambridge.

I have spent my legal career fighting — and winning — cases that matter to Arizona families. I kept Biden’s federal COVID vaccine mandate out of Arizona, sued Mesa Public Schools for hiding students’ gender transitions from their own parents, litigated important election integrity cases, and sued to fight the Biden Administration’s open-border policies. I have also helped draft legislation at the Arizona Legislature, including Proposition 314, the Secure the Border Act, along with bills on parental rights and property rights protections.

I know how to turn conservative principles into bills that can withstand legal attack.

In the Legislature, my first priority will be to fix our broken election system. Arizona deserves what Florida has: secure elections where ballots are counted quickly and voters get trustworthy results on election night. I know our state’s election laws. I am the only election law expert running for the State Legislature with the specialized legal knowledge to design and drive the election reforms we need.

Second, we must tackle the affordability crisis that is making it hard for young Arizonans to start families. I will work to cut red tape so homes can be built faster and cheaper, expand opportunities for owner-builders, and reduce the artificial pressure on housing costs created by illegal immigration.

Third, I will fight tirelessly for life. Proposition 139 made abortion until the moment of birth a constitutional “right” in Arizona. I will work until my last breath to get it repealed.

Fourth, I will stand for our children by stopping radical gender ideology in the classroom and imposing real penalties on schools and teachers that violate the rules.

Fifth, I will defend our Second Amendment rights by strengthening the 2nd Amendment Firearm Freedom Act so state and local resources cannot be conscripted into federal gun-control schemes.

Sixth, I will fight illegal immigration by advancing tougher E-Verify and public-benefits laws so illegal aliens cannot take Arizona jobs or taxpayer-funded benefits and so that they and their sponsors are held financially responsible when they do.

Arizona’s future is not predetermined. It will be decided by the voters of districts like LD10 and by the representatives they choose to send to the Capitol. Representative Justin Olson and I are running together as a slate in LD10. I would be honored to earn your vote and go to the Legislature to fight for conservative principles and a permanently red Arizona.
