Lifetime of service is why I support Rory Goreé for Glendale council

Posted

OPINION — After 33 years in law enforcement, I’ve learned what real public service looks like. It’s not about titles or talking points, it’s about showing up, listening and doing the work.

That’s why I’m supporting Rory Goreé for Glendale City Council.

Throughout my career, I saw how important it is for leaders to stay connected to the people they serve. Unfortunately, there’s a growing disconnect between our council and the community.

Residents feel unheard, and decisions are made without input from community members. Take the data center approval, not a single resident spoke in favor, yet it passed. That needs to change.

Rory understands that. His service in the Navy speaks to a commitment bigger than himself, but what stands out even more to me is what he’s done here at home. He’s been out in the community, knocking on doors, meeting neighbors and listening because he genuinely cares.

When our local library was at risk, Rory didn’t sit back. He organized, he petitioned and he stood with the community to protect a resource families and seniors rely on. And he made our city council back down. That’s the kind of leadership we need; proactive, engaged and willing to fight for what matters to residents.

I also care a lot about the condition of our parks and public spaces. These are the places where our neighbors come together, where kids play and where community is built. They deserve proper investment and upkeep, not the neglect they get now.

Rory has shown that he values transparency, takes community input seriously and is accessible to the people. Those qualities matter.

Public service is a calling, and it takes dedication. I’ve lived that life, and I recognize it in Rory.

That’s why I’m asking you to vote for Rory Goreé for Glendale City Council.
