Let’s talk about issues that matter

Posted

OPINION — I had a lot of disagreement with Rick Dimes' most recent letter, which paints a dark dystopian picture of progressive rule, but I want to focus on his comments regarding immigrants.

Immigrants are often used as a punching bag for MAGA loyalists. They apparently fail to realize that immigrants fill critical jobs in the U.S., helping to support or labor economy, which keeps prices low and prevents inflation. Our quality of life would not be the same without the services that immigrants provide.

They also apparently fail to realize that immigrants pour billions of dollars into our economy each year purchasing shelter and provisions for themselves and their families. This supports our local businesses and industries and bolsters the national economy.

Instead of promoting hatred of immigrants and progressives, let’s get real and talk about issues that matter, like procuring water for Arizona, controlling AI, funding Medicare and Social Security, and controlling food and gas prices. We have the power to make change, let’s use it!
