In Fountain Hills, our election decisions will matter for years

Posted

OPINION — When I hire someone, I'm looking for experience and integrity. They must demonstrate why they are the best candidate and why I should hire them – I want experience, not blue sky or smoke and mirrors.

Our upcoming election is the same with one difference: if I hire someone and they don't work out, I can quickly replace them. In an election, we're basically stuck with our decision. In this case, two years as mayor and four years for the rest.

We must be smart enough to select with our heads – not our hearts, using logic versus emotion. Choose wisely, because we'll have to live with our decision for years.

The conservative slate are proven performers with a wealth of successful experience – from Gerry Friedel's extensive financial management experience to Dan Kovacevic's Planning and Zoning leadership, plus his vast real estate management experience, to Ben Larrabee's excellence in data intelligence management experience, to Matt Corrigan's Planning and Zoning work plus his successful corporate management experience.

In opposition, we have much less experienced candidates from the liberal bastions of Massachusetts, Illinois and New Hampshire that want to infect our town with failed policies. For Mayor, they have someone who consistently demonstrates they are not who they say they are. Of the latter I can vouch, as I supported this person in the last election who once elected, did a complete political reversal whom I predict will turn on her newly minted left supporters after using them to get elected. History has a way of repeating itself.

Your decision will matter for years. Fountain Hills is a beautiful small town that should be a quiet and happy place to raise our families and retire. It doesn’t need any more drama – imported or otherwise.
