I’m voting yes on Fountain Hills district override

Posted

OPINION — “Defund woke schools,” “massive tax hike,” “higher property taxes hurts seniors and families.” Those are some examples of the anti-public school political sign messaging that advocates against the passing of the Fountain Hills schools override measure.

Personally, I don’t believe any of it and I’m a senior, full-time resident of the town.

Common sense tells me that a healthy public school system is essential to a thriving community, attracts new families and contributes to higher property values. So why would the residents of this town not want to support it?

Maybe the opponents don’t want any more children to move into the community and defunding public schools is a way to achieve that? Are they even a resident of the community? It’s hard to tell because they hide behind their PAC signage. You know, the ones that require a magnifying glass to figure out who is responsible for them. If they have that much opposition to the override measure, then write an op-ed in the Fountain Hills Times and state your case instead of hiding behind a bunch of half-truth messaging on their PAC signage.

Until then, I’m voting “yes!”
