OPINION — At 250, United States not living up to expectations of a Christian nation.
Sorry, folks, but we are not a Christian nation. We were founded as a secular democratic republic.
A true Christian nation would not deny health care, would not demonize immigrants, denigrate homeless people, kill boaters in the ocean, deny protection for asylum seekers and send masked agents into neighborhoods.
A true Christian nation would accept everyone, allow equal opportunity and call out leaders who are corrupt, seek vengeance and incite violence.
As we celebrate our 250th anniversary, let's make year 251 a new beginning.
