Fountain Hills greatly impacted by success of school district

Posted

OPINION —  In August 2025, the Maricopa County Superior Court ruled that Arizona’s current K-12 public school finance system violates the Arizona constitution.

Citing statewide evidence of unsafe buildings and widespread security deficiencies, the court determined that the state is not properly funding the school districts. Instead of addressing the problem, the ruling was appealed. The judge’s order is still tied up in the courts. In the meantime, Arizona school districts still do not receive crucial funding.

That is why the current request for a bond override is so important. Our A+-rated school district has proven over and over that they are doing an excellent job. The facts are clear: FHUSD is a very high-quality school district that knows how to operate responsibly on a tight budget. Our new FHUSD Superintendent, Valerie Reichler, makes an excellent case that the bond override is absolutely necessary.

The election starts this month. Vote early and vote yes to ensure that our schools will continue to thrive, and to promote our reputation as a family-friendly community. The future of Fountain Hills will be greatly impacted by the success of our school district.
