OPINION — Now that all the votes have been counted and the results are final, I want to share a few words with the people of Fountain Hills.
History reminds us that meaningful change rarely begins with those in power. More often, it comes from ordinary citizens who choose to stand up, speak out, and work together to build a better future.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us that the arc of history does not bend toward justice on its own. It bends because people are willing to do the hard work of defending freedom, demanding accountability, and refusing to give up. We must never give up on the promise that every person matters and deserves dignity, fairness and opportunity, regardless of race, religion, background or identity.
Every generation, and every city and town, faces its own challenges. Progress is seldom achieved in a single election or by a single individual. It requires perseverance, courage and citizens who remain committed to change long after the campaign signs come down.
Although this election did not end as I had hoped, my commitment to Fountain Hills has not wavered. I continue to believe in the power of informed and engaged citizens to shape the future of our town. I will keep working for responsible government, transparency, fiscal integrity and a community where every resident has a voice, regardless of who you are or who you know.
Thank you to everyone who believed in this campaign and stood beside me. This is not the end of the journey — it is simply the next chapter and I anticipate that our town's best days are still ahead of us. I accept the outcome, but I do not surrender hope. The work continues, and so does my faith in the people of Fountain Hills.
