OPINION — Wake up, Fountain Hills. We are about to lose our museum.
Who needs the museum, anyway? All the people who live in this town, the people who come here to enjoy art fairs and other events at the Community Center and on the Avenue of the Fountains, the school children who want to know about the origin of their town and surrounding area, the Yavapai people whose treasures are housed in the museum, the house hunters looking for a new home in our special community, and the crowds who flock to the museum for the Holiday Mart in November and December.
The River of Time Museum is an essential part of Fountain Hills, and the building it is housed in was built specifically for the museum and the library because every town needs a museum and a library.
We would be foolish to let our museum die. I for one would not want to live in a town without a museum, and I think most of the town's people would agree.
