OPINION — Fairness – the equal and just treatment without favoritism or discrimination – once the key to the truth in political journalism, is disappearing. Media narratives seems to be filled with lopsided scripts and obfuscations moving far away from objective fairness. The news media’s partisan positions may be factors stimulating rage and violence. Is there a lawsuit in the making?
The political domain, with the help of media influencers, is replacing fair play with partisan weaponized scripts aimed to discredit their selected targets. Can weaponized words potentially incite violence?
American nationalists are telling their government to put its own bureaucracy in order to lessen inflationary and unaffordability burdens politically forced onto American citizens. Progressive globalists insist the elite class should be 100% endowed to control the government’s installation of borderless mass migration. Preparing an impartial analysis of the truths and myths comparing home-grown populism and global elitism should be the media’s professional duty. Taking a one-sided position without an open discussion is not objective reporting.
Fairness begins with politicians honestly telling people who they are and what they will do once elected. The art of deceptive politics is pervasively concealing your core beliefs and intentions behind vocally demonizing your opponent. Both political leaders and news editors should lead by example, not hide inside evasive rhetoric. Objective fairness should always come first.
Lately the explosion of accusations – many inaccurate, some intentionally weaponized – have discarded all notions of fairness. Can anyone find fairness in seeing an abundance of rationalized empathy heaped onto noncitizens while the homegrown citizens footing the bill are commonly ignored?
Has the media indoctrinated itself into becoming one-sided political allies? Are objective journalists that maintain a universal and unbiased position of fairness extinct?
Will AI be trained to be a fair-minded truth teller; or a machine holding preprogramed prejudices?
