Elections have consequences

Posted

OPINION — Mayors established sanctuary cities. Governors enable sanctuary states. District attorneys protect sanctuary bureaucracies. Elections have consequences.

The imported aliens have congregated in sanctuary cities with mayors that use a wink and a nod to evade the questions that would expose their governing shortcomings.

The promises of “free stuff” is the rallying mantra of socialism growing in sanctuary cities and states. The congregation of special interest groups creates the concentrated power to sway public sentiment and potentially election outcomes.

A major consequence of the 2020 election was four years of promoting mass migration. The liberals came into power inheriting an inflation rate of 1.23%. Overspending and borrowing drove the cumulative inflation rate on goods and services to 21% in 2024. Covid was a convenient excuse, not the root cause of why prices peaked in 2024.

Product prices don’t go down unless the demand goes down because the product is obsolete or over-produced. The daily need for food, utilities, gasoline, mortgages/rent, insurance, are necessities that carry price tags that typically trend at the inflation rate. Price reductions are unrealistic. Price stabilization can occur around 3% inflation.

Inflation is a constant that conservatives seek to curb and progressives typically accelerate as long as they hold power. Progressive’s preference has been to expand and control big government. When progressives fail to deliver they merely cast the blame elsewhere. Recalls for some mayors and governors have failed.

The distinctions between national populists, willing to work for safe, secure, neighborhoods; and progressive elitists that insist the credential class should be 100% endowed to control government’s installation of borderless mass migration, are apparent.

The distinctions of election consequences have never been more glaring.
