Don’t take the chance on making Orlando mayor

Posted

OPINION — I’m a longtime resident of Chandler, and I recently learned about a little Chandler City Council history.

Apparently, some 20 years ago, Matt Orlando and his pals pushed out a city manager (Mark Pentz). I hear they treated staff horribly, even in public.

There is video of the night they forced out the city manager, who I hear was actually quite good.

That same city manager was rehired after Matt and his crew lost their majority on Council. It got so bad that many Chandler citizens wanted to recall Orlando.

Within the last year, the city manager, the city attorney, the city clerk, a deputy city manager and multiple department heads have quit or retired.

This is unprecedented in Chandler’s history. The amount of institutional knowledge the city has lost is immeasurable.

Could it be that Matt is up to his old tricks? If he’s elected Mayor, what impact will that have on our beautiful city?

I don’t think we should take that chance.
