Does ICE facility warrant ending Surprise cityhood?

OPINION — I just read an article that revealed the next in a long line of absurd stunts aimed at Arizona by leftists. Do they actually think that their ongoing tantrum against the much-needed ICE detention facility here justifies decertifying Surprise as a city?

Who in the heck do these people think they are? If they can coerce 70,000 others who are gullible and easily deceived to agree with their ballot measure, then the safe, clean, pleasant and attractive well-run city of Surprise will lose the first-rate services we now enjoy and we’ll end up battling Maricopa County for fractions of those same services.

Very easy to understand that we will pay more and get less. All of this because a tiny sliver of rabble-rousers and their hangers-on don’t like the idea of illegals and violent criminals, all with extensive criminal records, being taken out of circulation in order to safeguard the rest of us. I’d be surprised if any of them even live in Surprise.

Seems to be a recurring theme, with Democrats focused on battling against safety and the rule of law by coddling criminals, fighting against police, enacting sanctuary cities and of late, violent riots against ICE agents doing their jobs to protect all of us from violent criminals.

If supporters of this nonsense want to make idols out of these criminals, let me suggest they put their money where their mouths are and sponsor some of them into their own homes for a few months. Especially the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua types that have been unleashed on the rest of us. Can’t wait to see the results!
