County treasurer’s tax delays anger Sun Citian

Posted

OPINION — I read with disgust the article, Sun City Fire yet to receive full county tax money.

I am a programmer. I bought property tax liens for eight years. No more!

The Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office blew up its website in October 2025 and replaced it with error-plagued, destroyed (removed) links and inconsistent results from queries.

Some of the below processes may have been resolved, but not without contacting the tax lien support section for resolution of tax lien holdings.

1. Finding tax info on delinquent parcels “page not found.”

2. Reconciling my tax liens showed not found on assessor website.

3. Property summary shows unpaid for a couple years, but payment history shows paid by mortgage company instead of paid by investor.

4. Redeemed tax liens not forwarded to investor. Much time to research which liens are paid by homeowner and not received by investor and contacting tax lien support for resolution on multiple tax lien investments.

It appears the treasurer hired new IT graduates with no business experience, and should have performed dual processing before publishing the new program.

It was surprising to read that the fire department is having issues with payments, but the treasurer is “working on it.” What incompetence.
