OPINION — The author responding to my opinion chose to attack me personally rather than engage with a single substantive concern I raised about partisanship and civic discourse in Fountain Hills. A telling choice. When an argument is met with mockery, deflection and a string of accusations about motives, it usually means the substantive points were not answered.
The deflection to Reclaim Our Town’s behavior is a classic "they do it too" dodge and a weak one at that. Even if every criticism of Reclaim Our Town was valid, that does nothing to invalidate my concerns. Two wrongs don't make a right, and pointing fingers elsewhere isn't a rebuttal; it's an admission that you have no real answers.
The Republican picnic scheduling overlap is presented as some kind of smoking gun, but it proves absolutely nothing. There is zero evidence of bad intent, deliberate coordination or that Republican volunteers don't serve this community in countless other ways. Anecdote is not an argument.
Most damning of all, the author condemns partisan thinking while engaging in it openly and unapologetically — painting Democrats as selfless community servants and Republicans as cynical political operators, without offering a shred of proof for either characterization. That is precisely the kind of one-sided, exclusionary thinking I was warning residents about. The author did not refute my point, she illustrated it.
My central question — whether civic groups in Fountain Hills are prioritizing party advancement over genuine community service — was never answered. Instead, mockery, sarcasm and deflection was substituted for any meaningful response. If my concerns were truly laughable, they would have been easy to disprove with facts. The fact that the author reacted with ridicule instead, speaks volumes. Residents deserve better as well as clearer answers! The responses did not refute my concerns but simply confirmed why they matter.
