OPINION — I would like to thank the voters of Cave Creek for having the confidence to elect me to my second consecutive Town Council term. I sincerely appreciate your faith and trust in me, and I will not let you down whether you voted for me or not.
Going forward these are my main objectives:
1-Continue to find new sources of water that will bridge the gap with what is happening with our Colorado River allotment. Remember, 90% of all water users in Cave Creek use Colorado River Water that is distributed and managed by the Central Arizona Project, and that’s handled on a much higher level that our council/or town staff is involved with.
2-Now that we have initiated the auction of the 4,005 acres of state trust land for open space, we have to pay for it. As I have said from the beginning, I believe that this can be done through private fundraising. I do not speak for others; I realize there are other ideas/plans to pay for the 4,005 acres, this is my personal intention and I will make every effort on my end to achieve.
3-Wildland fire safety — Cave Creek is perhaps the biggest tinderbox in Maricopa County. Since the Ocotillo Fire of 2020, we’ve made great strides to make sure the damage that occurred will never happen again.
4-Road improvements — thanks to outgoing Mayor Robert Morris, the road budget has more than doubled. We will continue his efforts.
5-Refining safety standards for our trail system in conjunction with Maricopa County regarding excessive heat.
6-Staggered council terms, and potentially term limits.
Other potential agenda items should include proactive meetings with Bike Week organizers to plan for growth, and the parking situation in the town core. There’s obviously a lot more, but these are my main objectives.
