Arizona pay-to-play government contracts as old as America

Posted

OPINION — The Spoils System, as we called it 250 years ago, is now called pay-to-play government contracts.

Senator Spoof introduces a reform bill that he knows is going nowhere. Governor Polly Anna responds with an even holier reply.

And they both win. Nothing changes.

The solution is simple: Every government contract requires an attached disclosure form disclosing the straw men like lobbyists, relatives, trade organizations and political parties. The disclosure form must be updated until the contract ends.

I studied these problems in college back in the 1970s.  Arizona politicians refuse to change.

Happy 250th.
