OPINION — Jeff Hostetler’s recent letter regarding the state of the country argues that most things are now worse than during the previous administration. These statements require some objective review.
Many complain about gasoline prices. According to Reuters, in California there has been no significant reduction in traffic or fuel use since the Iran conflict began. It does not matter what people say, what matters is what people do.
I have not heard of “drag queens” reading to kindergarten-age children recently. Maybe it will now be taught and commonly understood that there are only two human sexes, male and female.
The notion that children should be counseled to believe that they were born the wrong sex has for the most part ended, sometimes under penalty of law.
Hardened criminals in prison that want a sex-change procedure on the taxpayer dime will stay where they are as they are.
Progress is being made to prevent men from participation in women's sports and men’s use of women’s locker rooms and restroom facilities.
Open borders permitted vicious gang members and horrible criminals with outstanding crimes against them in their home country to infest our cities and terrorize law-abiding citizens. I wonder what Mr. Hostetler and those like him have to say to the many families that have lost loved ones or suffered property damage or worse because of this policy?
Finally, the Iran conflict was mentioned. According to news reports, Iran had achieved 60% purity of uranium, which far exceeds that necessary to operate nuclear reactors for power generation. Does anyone think that a nuclear-armed Iran will make the world a better safer place for future generations?
