OPINION — For the past 12 years, I have had the honor and privilege of serving our community on the Apache Junction Unified School District Governing Board. As I reflect on those years, I am incredibly grateful for the students, parents, teachers, staff, community members and local leaders who have supported and encouraged me along the way.
When I first ran for the governing board, I did so because I believed our students deserved a strong voice and every opportunity to succeed. Twelve years later, that commitment has not changed. I am proud of the progress our district has made, but I also know there is more work to do.
Serving on the governing board — and most recently as board president — has been an honor and a privilege. I have never taken the trust placed in me lightly. Every decision I make comes back to what I believe is best for our students, our families and the future of AJUSD.
To everyone who has supported me, encouraged me, challenged me, volunteered alongside me or simply taken the time to share your thoughts with me over these past 12 years: Thank you. Your support has meant more to me than I can adequately express.
As we approach the Nov. 3 election, I am once again asking for your trust, your support and your vote. I would be honored to continue serving our community and working to ensure that AJUSD provides safe schools, strong academics, expanded opportunities, responsible leadership and a bright future for every student.
Thank you, AJUSD community, for allowing me to serve you for the past 12 years. I hope to have the opportunity to continue that service.
