Abundance of candidate signs raises Gilbert resident’s ire

Posted

OPINION — It is my opinion that government needs to rein in the amount of political signs in one place.

Jed Lyons has 50 signs on one block on Recker, Pecos and other areas. Councilmember Yung Koprowski contacted his campaign for me.

At that time, I asked what if every candidate did this? I guess we are finding out. A few days later, Chuck Bongiovanni and Jim Torgeson added another 40 to 50 signs on Pecos/Greenfield in addition to Lyons’ signs.

They lose my vote by junking up our neighborhoods for their self-benefit. I find it most upsetting as it seems these candidates are more concerned with themselves than the people they serve.

I called the vice mayor’s phone number given on his website but it was just a number for government offices with Option 7 being: “contact town council.” The response to pushing Option 7 says it can’t recognize that option.

One to three signs in an area is campaigning. Twenty to 100 signs by three candidates in one area is litter. This appears to me to be ego-driven and not public service. I will not vote for any candidate that doesn’t respect our streets, our neighborhoods or residents.

A government phone number that won’t allow one to contact our representative is just bad government. Thank you, Ms. Koprowski, you will be missed. All others? Push Option 7.
